Art Deco / Modernist Armchair by Serge Chemayeff
The armchair: An armchair designed by the famous Modernist Architect Serge Chermayeff (1900-1996) in 1933 for Plan Ltd (see Manchester Art Gallery: Gallery of Crafts & Design). The settee is upholstered in a green wool tweed.

Heal's Oak Recliner Armchair
The chair: A Modernist oak recliner armchair with magazine racks to their sides attributed to Heals circa 1935. Feather cushions upholstered in GP & J Baker fabric.

The armchair: An Arts & Crafts Cotswold School ash armchair designed by Philip Clissett and James Maclaren circa 1890s - known and documented as the "Clissett Highback" armchair. This example was made by Edward Gardiner.

The armchair: An Arts & Crafts ash armchair designed by Philip Clissett c.1890, Known as the "Clissett Highback" - This example was probably made by Gimson's apprentice Edward Gardiner c.1920's. Hand crafted with pegged construction. Sea grass seat.

Condition: Offered in very good original condition. Some minor restoration. Simply cleaned and waxed maintaining the excellent patina.

The chair: An American Arts & Crafts (Mission) armchair by Stickley Bros Co of Grand Rapids c.1910. Branded label. Excellent display of quarter sawn oak and exposed construction. This is a generous sized armchair. Leatherette drop in seat.

Cotswold School Gimson Rocker
The rocker: A Cotswold School oak rocker after a design by Gimson. The craftsman maker is unknown. This rocker has a slightly taller back, with an additional splat and an attractive arch to the back uprights, compared to the typical Gimson rocker design.

The chair: A Cotswold Style oak lattice back armchair made by Gordon Russell and retailed by Heal's c.1930. Constructed in solid well figured quarter sawn oak with drop-in rush seats, chamfered front supports and dowelled joints.
